We've recently progressed onto the 25 man content that TBC has to offer. On our 2nd visit as a group to High King Maulgar's shabby hovel, he was bested in combat. This is a major milestone for us, as it is every guild. It shows we can compete with the demands of a 25 man instance and that we have the gear, commitment and simple numbers to accomplish things at this level.
Next up is the challenge of Gruul the Dragonslayer. Given that we've all killed Onyxia, Azuregos and Nefarian we're frankly upset about his title and we intend to put him right on a few things...
Okay, fair enough it wasn't technically an Origin(al) kill, but I am counting it.
A few of the old KoA bunch waved goodbye to the world's favourite dorf priestess, Quanta, by pwning the bugs of AQ40. Reflecting on it, the first half was almost ridiculously easy, cutting a swathe of destruction through Skeram and up to Fankriss. Although Fank died, his snake friends who were "harmless" managed to wipe the raid with their 14k enraged melee. Highlights were Gonk and Fundin occasionally making it to top of the dmg meters, usually just before a swarm of 30 adds that got aoe'd.
By the time we arrived at the bugged Twin Emps, things were slightly more serious. Yours truly utilised the classic 'reverse psychology' approach to avoid tanking duty - "Apply CoE, spam searing pain and keep Shadow Ward up - how hard can it be?". The ever prepared Oktober had somehow remembered to bring 300+ shadow res gear so stepped up and tanked our guy.
C'Thun himself was actually quite fun - a clearly challenging tactical fight that was aided by imba dps and stupidly high resistance. Tala also managed to ninja, sorry out-roll, the rest of the raid and bag the quest item from C'Thun as well, which was nice. A personal spate of ninja-mining boosted Origin's banks tally of Obsidian shards by a fair bit, despite no-one having mining gloves on them ![]()
All things considered, a fun night for some of us and a helluva way to send off an old friend.
Goodbye Quanta, have fun, and thanks ![]()
edit: You'll get screenies when i get out of work ![]()
Yes, we know this is old news for existing members. And we know the rest of the server are farming him for lewtzors.
BUT
We worked REALLY hard to kill this f***er and frankly I want to shout about it a little.
I'll add in some screenies when I am at home but the coolest thing was the old boy never needed to take his juice halfway through proceedings. As an imba-lock I'd ordinarily take full credit for the kill, especially as there were 2 of us in the raid dot'ing, fearing and banishing. That however might be unfair to our rogues and warriors (and others?) who did some really, really good interrupting on the old fool. We were helped by not having to 9-man him as well, thanks to a tactical Soulstone on our Shaman. (Did I mention locks were imba?)
The positivity shown by the 2 Kara groups over the last few weeks as we regularly struggled to kill Aran embodies for me exactly the kind of spirit that Origin is all about. We'll never achieve firsts but if the learning curve on Aran is anything to go by, I for one am sure as hell gonna enjoy the journey.
So, old News for us, older news for everyone else, but god dammit it was cool!
Now.... Did someone say Nightbane...?
